: With a bit more attention, this property could be fantastic. As it is, however, the highs are very high, but there are clearly areas in need of greater attention and improvement. Caveat - we rented the apartment for over two weeks, waiting repatriation due to Coronavirus; it could have been up to four months, however, and my review may reflect that of a non-typical renter. Someone staying a very short time might have a far more positive response. Thankfully, we ended up staying only nine nights before we could return home.First, communication was excellent throughout. Although we could not really participate in activities, the quiet apartment is in a lively neighborhood with lots of bars, restaurants, services, and shops. Easy walk from Museum Metro/Train. It is a small, one-bedroom apartment that is comfortable for two people. The bathroom is enormous and contains both a walk-in shower and tub (we did not use). The building is not new which means the unit has some quirks but also a personality, enhanced by some appealing art work. The owner has furnished the place efficiently but comfortably and seems to be adding new, essential appliances as the property develops: AC & fan (didn't need), TV with Netflix, Microwave, smoke detectors, and washer/dryer. The cleaning products, toiletries, and grocery items were extremely generous. Queen size bed was great. The best thing about the apartment is the large, wrap-around patio which overlooks the city toward the harbor. You can see a bit of the Harbor Bridge, tippy tops of the opera house, and a patch of water at Woolloomooloo Bay. The plants could be attractive (if watered) and the lounge sofas are comfortable. The three, large, sliding glass doors bring a lot of light into the interior. We mostly lived on the patio.
: Unfortunately, the view is marred by the very dirty, web-covered glass walls. Another guest wiped down some of the interior glass doors, and I had to scrub all of the patio glass walls. I tried to save the plants by giving them some good soakings. The other negative is the kitchen - essentially a Pullman counter - probably original to the building. Unfortunately, the advertised/pictured grill was missing. The owner may have plans to replace the current kitchen with some modern, apartment-size appliances, but it is useful now only for very short visits when tenants would be eating meals out. Given the shut-down, we were forced to cook daily. Again, a small detail - but the exhaust fan, which we were ordered to use, is not anything I'd want to touch. In order to obtain ice, we needed to defrost the refrigerator and adjust the temperature. The apartment was "clean" (vacuumed, bath clean, bed made, some dusting), but the owner - and by extension, the tenant who pays for it - is not well served by the current cleaning service. These lapses are unfortunate, because the apartment could, with some attention to detail, be a marvelous place - even for an extended stay. April 2020
